    Things to Do

Things to do in Dyfi Valley

The Dyfi Valley lies both undiscovered and full of discovery within the southernmost reaches of Snowdonia. It offers a magnificent blend of wild countryside expanses, dramatic mountain ranges, ancient woodland, and golden, sweeping beaches.

Even at the height of summer, you can easily escape the crowds and find a tranquil spot – where birdsong or a chattering brook will enhance the quietude.

If getting active is more your thing, Snowdonia National Park is one of Europe’s top destinations for adrenaline-pumping sports, with exceptional mountain biking, walking, climbing, white water sports, zip-lining – and even underground trampolining!

    Nature in Mid Wales

Nature is a predominant part of life here, and you can be guaranteed of spotting plenty of wildlife on the ground, in the skies, and in the waters. The Dyfi Osprey Project and RSPB Ynys Hir are right on our doorstep, and you can go dolphin spotting in Cardigan Bay. There’s also a plethora of beach-based fun to be had just a few miles down the road at Aberdyfi – including fishing and crabbing.

If you need groceries, fancy a relaxed coffee or a wander around some unique shops, our local town of Machynlleth has it all covered with a great range of independent stores and cafes – as well as the very popular local market which is held every Wednesday.

    DYFI OSPREY PROJECT

Directly across the estuary from us is the Dyfi Osprey Project. In 2011, for the first time in 400 years, ospreys bred in the Dyfi valley on the Cors Dyfi Nature Reserve site. The Osprey Project is open from April to September.

Some studios offer the chance for visitors to get hands-on and make their very own chocolates, candles and painted pottery!
